James Donio, President of the Music Business Association (Music Biz), commented on this week’s sales numbers issued by Nielsen (published in Billboard) and Border City Media:
Adele’s 25 lands at #1 on the Nielsen and BuzzAngle Music charts for the 10th nonconsecutive frame this week, moving another 100,000 album equivalent units (including 81,000 in traditional sales). It’s only the fifth album released since 2000 to top the charts that many times, joining the exclusive company of Adele’s own 21, Taylor Swift’s 1989 and Fearless, and the Frozen soundtrack. In addition, rapper Yo Gotti scored his highest chart position yet with The Art of the Hustle, debuting at #4 on the Billboard 200 and #5 on BuzzAngle Music. Next week, we’ll be closely following the performance of new albums from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and The 1975.
