Jackie Patillo’s professional journey tells the story of one who is consistent; determined and committed to serve those called to music ministry. Since 1989, she has risen in major music companies, including Star Song Communications, Benson Music Group, and Integrity Media. Her journey led to New York in May of 2006, as Patillo accepted the position of VP of A&R and Artist Development for Verity Gospel Music Group, boasting a roster of Platinum- and Gold-selling artists. Patillo exitted Verity in late 2010 and is currently the President and Executive Director of the Gospel Music Association.
What was your favorite memory from last year’s Music Biz 2015?
It was great to have Music Biz 2015 in NASHVILLE. It continued to reveal that Nashville is not just a one genre town.
What’s the first record you ever bought?
It was a 45 of either Gary Puckett and the Union Gap’s “Woman Woman” or The Supremes’ “Baby Baby”. Back then you could hear both on the same radio station.
What’s the best artist you’ve discovered over the past year?
Lauren Daigle.
What was the best concert you attended in 2015?
I went to see Stevie Wonder at the Bridgestone arena in Nashville. I sang at the top of my lungs!
What can we expect from the panel you are participating in?
Although Christian/Gospel music is a niche market the business behind it is often surprising. Our Music Biz panel will reveal facts about the artists, touring, radio and the faith based consumer.
